At St. Bernadette School, “excellence is our standard, not our goal!”

The 35 students in the Class of 2012 have received over $750,000 in academic scholarships; state test scores exceed the state and city average in Grades 4, 6, and 8 ELA and Math. “We work hard, we encourage our students, we develop the whole child — we get results!”

In October, 2008, St. Bernadette School was named an NCLB National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, a title the school has held for five years. St. Bernadette is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. Sr. Joan DiRienzo, MPF, was named one of 12 National Catholic Education Association Distinguished Principals in the country in April, 2009. And this year, St. Bernadette fourth grade teacher Mrs. Roberta Meringolo was named one of 12 NCEA Distinguished Teachers in the country, the second teacher in the school to receive such an honor in the past ten years.

St. Bernadette School has a strong Catholic identity, celebrating liturgies once a month, as well as participating in Eucharistic Devotions. Students take part in para-liturgical services regularly, and a variety of Christian service projects are developed annually to provide the students with opportunities to put their faith into practice.

St. Bernadette School offers an integrated, standards-based curriculum, which consists of the major disciplines of Religion, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Regularly scheduled classes, staffed by specialized teachers in Educational Technology, Italian, Art, Music, and Physical Education add an essential dimension to student life. Classroom teachers provide a solid core curriculum individualizing their instruction to meet the abilities and learning styles of their students.

St. Bernadette School also offers a host of extracurricular activities: Student Council, Environmental Club, Choir, Band, Hand Bell Choir, Italian Club, Cursive Club, and Confectionery Club, to name a few.

St. Bernadette School welcomes students beginning with Pre-K 3-year-old (three half days) through Grade 8. Additionally, SBS offers a Moms and Tots program which meets twice weekly.
