DUMBO — P.S. Bookshop, a popular DUMBO retail store, is moving to larger quarters just a few blocks away.
Its primary reason for moving is to have a longer lease term, according to Suzanne Schwimmer, of Schwimmer Realty, who handled the transaction.
Schwimmer reports that P.S. Bookshop has signed a 10-year, two-month lease with Two Trees Management for the 2,138-square-foot corner retail space in the building at 70 Washington St. Its address will be 76 Washington, she said.
The store is currently at 145A Front St. (the 68 Jay St. building), in space also brokered for it by Schwimmer in 2006.
The owner, Yuval Gans, expects that the shop will be moved into the new space by the end of December, said Schwimmer, who noted that P.S. Bookshop specializes in used and rare books, first editions and a wide array of written works as well as children’s books and children’s reading and storytime areas.
Gans named the store after his young daughter, Paloma Salomea, according to Schwimmer. He resides in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and daughter and newborn son Roman, “who arrived while in the thick of negotiating the lease,” Schwimmer said.
Caroline Pardo, director of commercial leasing for Two Trees Management (landlord and owner of the 70 Washington building) represented the firm in the lease transaction.
