DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – There will be two new judges in the County of Kings come 2010.
Attorneys Reginald Boddie and Pamela Fisher both won easy victories Tuesday night. Both Democrats were elected to the New York City Civil Court in Kings County – with Boddie winning the borough-wide seat and Fisher winning the Third District seat.
Fisher, law secretary to Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Mark I. Partnow, ran unopposed and received 100 percent of the vote. A total of 12,462 votes were cast, according to the city’s Board of Elections’ unofficial results.
Boddie captured 145,001 votes (74.95 percent) to beat out Appellate Term law clerk Vincent F. Martusciello, the Republican and Conservative challenger.
Meanwhile, in a relatively close election for the Civil Court’s Fifth District seat, Acting Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Rachel Amy Adams, who was running for re-election on the Democratic ticket, beat out the well-known Republican candidate Philip J. Smallman.
Hon. Adams received 57.23 percent of the vote with 25,036 people choosing in her favor. Smallman received 35.39 percent of the vote on the Republican ticket and 7.38 percent of the vote on the Conservative ticket.
Hon. Adams was first elected to the New York City Civil Court in 2000. The judges are elected for a term of 10 years.
Another candidate who won re-election was Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes. Hynes ran unopposed on the Democratic, Republican, Conservative and Working Families parties’ tickets. He received 72.36 percent of his total 234,916 votes on the Democratic line.
