Love Wanted, a Bay Ridge-based animal rights group, is hosting a pet adoption event on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Trinity Church, on the corner of Third Avenue and 91st Street, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is being called “Adopt Your Best Friend.”

“We are really excited about this event and hope to have a wonderful day!” Mary Jo Tobin, founder of Love Wanted, said. To date, the group has helped 1,705 pets find new homes, she said. “We hope to place at least another 35 in homes where they are loved and wanted! “ she added.

The North Shore Animal League is providing the dogs and cats that will be up for adoption at the event.

Tobin said that donations will also be sought for Reaching Out Community Services, a food pantry on New Utrecht Avenue in Bensonhurst, at the pet adoption. “It’s getting harder for them to do their work. They need funds,” she said.
