Marijuana use and how law enforcement is handling it has become a hot-button issue around the country. Medical marijuana use has been passed in a very limited number of circumstances here in New York and is already legalized in Washington and Colorado.

So how are the policies changing in Brooklyn?

Brooklyn Daily Eagle reporter Dipti Kumar spoke to Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson, who said this: “Is it better to use our resources to fight crimes that are jeopardizing whole communities with respect to gun violence,” Thompson asked, “or should we continue to put resources and money towards these cases when most of them are going to be dismissed at arraignment?”

In addition to statements from Eagle legal editor Charisma L. Miller, Esq., and someone who dealt with police at a marijuana stop, this enlightening video on pot policies in Brooklyn is definitely worth your time and attention.
