It was a beautiful day for a walk along the shore – and to raise money for their school!

Students and teachers at St. Patrick Catholic Academy, 401 97th St. in Bay Ridge, participated in the school’s annual Walk-a-Thon on Oct. 2, marching in unison from Fourth Avenue to the Shore Road Promenade and toward the 69th Street Pier, earning money with every step.

“It’s our first big fundraiser of the year,” said Principal Andrea D’Emic, who walked alongside the children. “The children were sponsored by their parents and grandparents to benefit the school.”

Each grade walked to a certain spot along the shore, with the older children reaching the iconic American Veterans Memorial Pier at 69th Street, nearly two miles away from the starting point at the school, before turning around and returning to their classrooms. It was a great chance to show school spirit while gaining valuable exercise on a beautiful autumn morning.
