Many parks and beaches in Brooklyn remain closed because of damage from Superstorm Sandy, according to the city’s Parks Department.

They include parts of the Coney Island Boardwalk, Luna Park, Manhattan Beach Park, Marine Park, Paerdegat Basin Park, four Red Hook ball fields and the Red Hook Recreation Center, and about a dozen playgrounds.

These parks need “months of cleanup and repairs” before they can reopen – and park cleanups are not exactly the city’s top priority right now, Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey told the New York Daily News.
