STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Lloyd Huck, Brooklyn-born former chairman of the board of pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., a longtime Penn State trustee and a Brooklyn native, is dead at age 90.

The university and Koch Funeral Home said Friday that Huck died Tuesday in State College, where he lived.

Huck graduated with a chemistry degree from Penn State in the 1940s, along with his wife, Dorothy Foehr Huck. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

The Hucks’ extensive philanthropy to benefit Penn State, where he chaired the Board of Trustees from 1988 to 1990, included the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. The Huck Life Sciences building was named for the couple this year.

Visitation is Saturday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home in State College.
