Adams (D-Crown Heights-Prospect Heights), a retired police captain currently serving his fourth term in the state senate launched his campaign for borough president with a rally on the steps of borough hall last month. He has since gained the support of more than 40 elected officials, including current Borough President Marty Markowitz and former BP Howard Golden.

He has also been endorsed by several unions, including the New York Hotel & Motel Trades Council, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union Local 1500, the New York City Corrections Officers’ Association (COBA) and the Assistant Deputy Wardens/Deputy Wardens Association.

Adams said he was pleased to receive the endorsement of the city’s largest health care workers union. “Whether it is on behalf of caregivers in Brooklyn, New Yorkers who deserve a high standard of healthcare or working families across America looking for a fair deal from their employees and our government, 1199 SEIU is always there to advocate effectively for what’s right,” Adams said. “I could not be prouder to accept 1199’s endorsement. I look forward to working with them to make Brooklyn the best it can be for all Brooklynites,” he said.
