Golden days for schools! Senator gets $400,000 for computers
Students in six public schools in southern Brooklyn will be seeing technology upgrades in their classrooms, thanks to state Sen. Marty Golden, who secured funding in the state budget for laptop computers, Smart Boards, and other 21st Century educational tools.
“We’re ecstatic,” said Robert Zappulla, principal of PS/IS 229 in Bensonhurst. Zappulla’s school, located at 1400 Benson Ave., is getting Smart Boards and cameras for its classrooms. “It will enable us to move forward with our educational goals,” he told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
The six schools, and the items to be funded are: David Boody Intermediate School, 228 Ave. S (laptop computers for special education classes); P.S./I.S. 229 (Smart Boards and cameras); William McKinley IS, 7301 Fort Hamilton Parkway, (laptop computer cart); PS 186, 7601 19th Ave., (Smart Boards); PS 222, 3301 Quentin Road, (Smart Boards) and PS 247, 7000 21st Ave., (laptop computer cart).
