The city’s Department of Education has added two dozen schools – including George Westinghouse, Boys and Girls High, and Sheepshead Bay High School — to the list of schools the city is considering closing, Gotham Schools reports.

The schools join 36 elementary and middle schools scheduled for  “early engagement” meetings, based on test scores, attendance, graduation rates, and a new measure, “readiness for college.”

To remain open, the schools will need to show officials they have “a way forward,” Deputy Schools Chancellor Marc Sternberg said.
