Enterprising students at Visitation Academy in Bay Ridge raised more than $3,000 for a wounded soldier by holding a bake sale at their school last year. They’re working at their ovens again this year.

The student council of Visitation Academy is organizing a Valentine Bake Sale for the same cause: to raise funds for the effort to build wounded soldier Bryan Dilberian a wheelchair-accessible home.

The bake sale will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the Alumnae Room at Visitation Academy, 8902 Ridge Boulevard, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dilberian, 27, a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School in Bay Ridge, lost both of his legs and his left arm when he was struck by a roadside bomb while on patrol in Iraq in 2011. The effort to build a new home for him is being led by the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation under its “Building Homes For America’s Bravest” program. Siller, a New York City firefighter, was killed in the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center. He had run through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel on foot to get to the Twin Towers to help on that day.

Actor Gary Sinise, of the CBS show “CSI:NY,” has also been working to raise funds for homes for Dilberian and other wounded soldiers. Sinise has performed in concert with his group, the Lt. Dan Band, across the country. The band is named after the character Sinise played in the Oscar winning 1994 film “Forrest Gump.”

Last year, dozens of trays of brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and other tasty treats were snapped up by eager customers who attended the bake sale at Visitation Academy.
