Good morning. Today is the 131st day of the year. It is the anniversary of the Astor Place Riot of 1849. A riot erupted outside the Astor Place Opera House in Manhattan, where the British actor William Charles Macready was performing in Macbeth. Led by American actor Edwin Forrest, angry crowds revolted against dress requirements for admission and against Macready’s public statements on the vulgarity of American life.

Well-known people who were born today include singer Bono, singer-musician Dave Mason, actor Gary Owens (“Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-in,” “The Gong Show”) and comedian-actor Kenan Thompson.

The parents of a Poly Prep lacrosse player face legal action after allegedly throwing a raucous and booze-soaked party to celebrate Poly Prep’s lacrosse victory over Horace Mann High School, according to the New York Post.

More than 40 minors attended the bash on Saturday night and at least two left in an ambulance, according to the Post.

Anthony Reyes, 56, and his wife, Claire Reyes, 49, were brought in from their Breezy Point, Queens, home on 43 counts of unlawfully dealing with children and 10 counts of endangerment of a child. They were then released with desk appearance tickets.

Among the players on Poly Prep’s lacrosse roster is Jesse Bongiovi, son of rock musician Jon Bon Jovi. Police refused to confirm to the Post whether Bongiovi was in attendance at the Reyes party and a rep for his father declined comment.
