Good morning. Today is the 179th day of the year. In the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of June 28, 1902, a small item noted that President Theodore Roosevelt’s yacht, the Dolphin, arrived at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for repairs. Soon, according to the Eagle, Roosevelt would switch to a new yacht, the Mayflower, which was then resting nearby in the Wallabout Basin.

Well-known people who were born today include Brooklyn-born actor-director Mel Brooks (“Blazing Saddles,” “The Producers”), baseball manager Don Baylor, U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-Michigan) and Brooklyn-born actress Danielle Brisebois (“All in the Family,” “Knots Landing”).
