Good morning. Today is the 166th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Saturday, June 14, 1902, focused on a big horse race at the Coney Island Jockey Club (which was actually in Sheepshead Bay). The article describes the racetrack: “The clubhouse is filled with patrician followers of the game, millionaires. The plebians are seated on various stands or segregated on the lawns. They are the real supporters of racing, for without their patronage the sport would die out fast.”

Well-known people who were born today include actress Yasmine Bleeth (“Baywatch,” “Nash Bridges,” “BASEketball”), singer Boy George of Culture Club, real estate mogul Donald Trump and Hall of Fame tennis player Steffi Graf.
