Good morning. Today is the 193rd day of the year. The phenomenon of wealthy older men and much-younger women isn’t a new one, as the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of July 10, 1902, will attest. At that time, Brooklyn resident Nathaniel McKay, 71, described as “the old shipbuilder,” died suddenly on his honeymoon in Atlantic City. His new wife, his third, was 27. McKay, who was active in Republican politics, lived on 13th Street in Windsor Terrace.

Well-known people who were born today include Brooklyn-born singer Arlo Guthrie, actress-singer Jessica Simpson, actor Ron Glass (“Barney Miller”) former Mayor David Dinkins and Hall of Fame baseball payer Andre Dawson.

Tonight and tomorrow night, there will be several intermittent bridge closures of up to 40 minutes on the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge from Brooklyn to Rockaway for inspection and maintenance of the lift span. Drivers are advised to use the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge instead.
