Good morning. Today is the 15th day of the year. On this day in 1902, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported that Dudley Buck, the 25-year organist for Holy Trinity Church on Montague Street (now St. Ann and the Holy Trinity), resigned, citing the “musical limitations” of the church. After his summer vacation, he had applied for a leave of absence for two months, but instead was given six months, and one of the choir singers was appointed musical director instead. Buck did not approve of the church’s decision to de-emphasize music during the church service.

Well-known people who were born today include football player Drew Brees, author Ernest Gaines, actress Margaret O’Brien (‘Little Women,” ‘”Meet Me in St. Louis”) rapper Pitbull and actor Mario Van Peebles (“Love Kills,” “Judgment Day”).
