Good morning. Today is the 346h day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Dec. 11, 1860, addressed a change in route of the Broadway (Williamsburg) Ferry, which ran from Broadway in Williamsburg to the Roosevelt Street ferry slip on the Lower East Side. An alternate ferry terminal at Peck Slip, Manhattan, was abandoned at this time because two ferry companies consolidated. The Williamsburg ferry operated until 1911, after the Williamsburg Bridge and its rapid transit line carries made it no longer necessary.

Well-known people who were born today include U.S. Sen. Max Baucus (D-Montana), Brooklyn-born rapper-actor Mos Def, activist-politi- cian Tom Hayden, U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass), comedian-actress Mo’nique, actor Ken Wahl (“Wiseguy,” “The Wanderers”) and signer-musician Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5.
