Good morning. Today is the 112th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of April 22, 1902, described a party of 40 Brooklyn priests and several Catholic laymen who were traveling on the steamer Liguria. They were bound for Rome, where they planned to meet Pope Leo on the 25th anniversary of his becoming pontiff. They also planned to present the pope with an engraved $25,000 check on behalf of the Catholic laity of Brooklyn.

Well-known people who were born today include actor Francis Capra, singer Peter Frampton (“Show Me the Way,” “I Love Your Ways”), singer Glen Campbell (“Gentle on My Mind,” ‘By the Time I Get to Phoenix’), filmmaker John Waters (“Pink Flamingoes”) and actor Jack Nicholson (“One Flew Over the Cuckoos’ Nest,” “Terms of Endearment,” “As Good as It Gets”).
