BROOKLYN (AP) — A New York City police officer has been arrested on charges of driving drunk while in his patrol car.

Police say Officer Christopher Morris was on duty when he drove his patrol car into a telephone pole in Brooklyn at 4 a.m. on Tuesday.

The New York Times is reporting the crash took place in East New York near the intersection of Schenck and Sutter Avenues. Officer Morris was coming from a fundraiser for the family of Officer Peter Figoski, who was shot dead in Brooklyn in December while interrupting a robbery attempt.
