A new traveling exhibit “Global Shoes” comes to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum (BCM) on September 22, when BCM reopens after being closed for maintenance. Global Shoes incorporates a variety of hands-on, feet-in activities that lets families explore global cultures through shoes.

Visit the Global Shoes shoe store and step into the shoes of families in Kiribati, Mongolia, and Iceland to learn about their lives. A try-on area of world shoes introduces different cultures and places. Learn about shoes used for various jobs, sports, and performances around the world.

In the Global Shoes factory “order” sneaker parts from real shoe suppliers around the world; touch and test different shoe materials, design your own shoes, try different shoemaking processes and much more.
