MANHATTAN — A Brooklyn firm is the winning designer for a new AIDS memorial park planned for a triangle across from the former St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village.

The team of architects at Studio a+i (ay pluhs eye), a small architecture and design studio based in Downtown Brooklyn, features groves of trees and mirrored glass surfaces.

It will honor the more than 100,000 people who have died from AIDS in the city. It also will celebrate the efforts of AIDS caregivers and activists.

To be called “Infinite Forest,” the design was chosen from among 475 entries that came from 26 U.S. states and 32 countries around the world.

The diverse jury included actress Whoopi Goldberg and shoe designer Kenneth Cole. The chair was Michael Arad (ah-RAHD’), designer of The National September 11 Memorial.

Supporters of the park include actresses Susan Sarandon and Julianne Moore.

Studio a+i was created by architects Lily Lim and Mateo Paiva in 2004.

According to their website, both have worked for Rafael Viñoly Architects in New York for a number of years as project managers on large-scale institutional and commercial projects.

Since 2004, the firm has been involved in projects from residential buildings to commercial, retail and office spaces in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Argentina, Uruguay and Singapore.
