A Brooklyn man was arrested at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) yesterday after a TSA officer spotted three switchblades in the passenger’s carry-on bag at the checkpoint as the man’s baggage was passing through the X-ray machine on Wednesday afternoon, February 27.

TSA contacted the Port Authority Police, who confiscated the knives and arrested the man on a local weapons charge. A TSA spokesperson said there was “no impact to airport operations.” The man was originally ticketed to fly to Charlotte, NC.

Knives are permitted in checked baggage – as are ice picks and fire arms — but not on in carry-ons, according to the TSA.
