BAY RIDGE — The motto of the Boy Scouts of America is, “Be prepared.” But on June 21, it was business and community leaders, not scouts, who had to be prepared. They had to be prepared to win awards!

The Brooklyn Council of the Boy Scouts of America honored five individuals and organizations for outstanding community service. The award ceremony took place at the council’s annual breakfast at the Bay Ridge Manor.

Good Scout Awards were presented to Ilene Sacco, president of the 68th Precinct Community Council; Michael Bove, president of the Neighborhood Improvement Association; Spiros Geroulanos, owner of Trident Developers N.Y., LLC; Angelo Rogas, president of Arc Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Corp.; and the Brooklyn AHEPA, a Greek-American organization.

James Clark, vice president of the Flood Company, and a longtime supporter of scouting, was one of the guest speakers. Clark is also president of the Bay Ridge Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District.

The main speaker was Nicholas Maddalena, a member of Boy Scout Troop 20. The troop meets at the New Utrecht Reformed Church on 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst.

The breakfast was organized by event co-chairs Zoe Koutsoupakis, senior vice president of Marathon Bank of New York, and Sandy Vallas, owner of Vallas Real Estate.
