A Tornado Watch is in effect for New York City until 5 Monday afternoon, according to NYC.gov.

New York City says construction sites and buildings should be secured, because high winds are expected.

The Department of Buildings issued a reminder for all builders, contractors and property owners.

It said it will be performing random spot-checks at construction sites around the city.

If the sites are not properly secured, enforcement action will be taken.
