The Merchants of Third Avenue group has announced that its “Mystery Pioneer” for 2012 is Linda Allegretti, a founder of the Shore Road Parks Conservancy, a group which organizes cleanups of the parks located Shore Road in Bay Ridge.

Allegretti will be honored at the Merchants’ 19th Annual Pioneer of Third Avenue cocktail reception on Oct. 29 at Café Remy, 7110 Third Ave.

The Merchants had previously announced its slate of pioneer award winners for this year, including Jason McDermott and James Whiffin, owners of the Pour House bar; Bina Valenzano, co-owner of the BookMark Shope bookstore; and Dr. Roy Blash, headmaster of Adelphi Academy. Lori Pedone and Rick Buttacavoli will receive Civic Service Awards.

But the Merchants also present an award to “Mystery Pioneer” each year and usually announce the winner after all of the other honorees have been named.

“Linda is a perfect choice to be our mystery pioneer. She has done so much for this community,” said Charles Otey, co-chairman of the awards ceremony.

The Pioneer Awards honor business and civic leaders in Bay Ridge.
