Visit the newly opened Moxie Spot with your family for food and fun. The menu and staff were put together with the help of recently-acclaimed Chef Josh Eden of Shorty’s .32 in SoHo. The team is made up of several of Josh’s close colleagues from his days at Jean George’s 66, with current menu development headed by Chris McGee, most recently of VYNL.

The fun at the Moxie Spot is a combination of self-administered art projects and games, along with group activities led by restaurant staff. The activities are designed and organized by the Creative Director of The Moxie Spot, Emily Terte, a former elementary school teacher. Metal and Thread has opened in Red Hook! Denise Carbonell and Derek Dominy are multi-media artists who like to put their heart and soul into every medium they work with. They collaborate on pieces in metals, textiles, plastics and wood.

In their store, you will find unique items ranging from home interior items to personal wearable pieces and outdoor garden objects d’art. Their goal is to first find and use recycled material whenever possible and that every material has an intrinsic beauty that can be turned into something useful and unusual.

Although it hasn’t quite gained the fame of Dixville Notch as a harbinger of political outcomes, a Tuesday walkabout on Smith Street from 2nd Place to Atlantic Avenue, days before New Yorkers vote in the primary, found strong retail signage support for Senator Obama. (And come to think of it, for one party this year, the winner of the Dixville Notch vote didn’t win New Hampshire’s total vote.)
